In the UK, we spend £2.2billion on houseplants and cut flowers a year. About 60% of this is represented by people buying flowers and plants for themselves and their home.
Although we are buying more houseplants each year, the extra plants are being supplied from continental Europe, rather than the UK.
For every houseplant you buy this year, a consumer in Denmark, Norway and Switzerland will buy five. In fact, Continental Europe in general spends a great deal more on houseplants.
This means that there is BIG potential for growth in our market. At Double H we are excited about all the potential new products, ideas and developments in distribution that will enable us to work with our trading partners to your mutual benefit!
Do you like the houseplants you see in supermarkets? Are you excited or disappointed with what you see? Is there something you have been unable to find? Please give us your comment
